14 Mar City of Scario
Scario is a town in the National Park of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano Park, the largest fraction of San Giovanni a Piro and a major tourist destination for the quality of its waters and its position.
Several excursions leave from the port of Scario: one of the most attractive places is the Punta degli Infreschi, not far from Marina di Camerota. The coast is dotted with karst caves, bays reachable only by the sea and sighting towers. At the entrance of the promenade we are welcomed by the Church of the Immaculate Conception from which we can observe, from the top of its bell tower, all the boats sheltered on the piers. From the little square in front of the Church, at the end of the promenade no more than 300 meters separate us, but it is worth enjoying every single step. The street on the harbor is characterized by pastel-colored palaces that overlook a crystalline sea surmounted by the verdant hills of San Giovanni a Piro. One really has the feeling of moving in a landscape painted by an impressionist painter. The waters of this part of the gulf are very clear and rich in flora and fauna, probably due to the karst nature of the rocks and the consequent presence of underwater springs of fresh water and at a lower temperature. The scarce urbanization first and the establishment of the national park then allowed to maintain a remarkable landscape value and a very low level of pollution difficult to find in other coastal locations. Our town has become a touristic destination for tourists from all around the world.
